We work every day to support the activities of companies operating in the Metalworking sector of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
We are committed to providing concrete answers to their needs, ranging from everyday concerns to more specific activities such as participation in trade fairs and events, funding requests, the creation of business networks, and projects implemented in synergy with public and private entities.

Our History
We were established in 2009 as COMET, an organization created to bring together the activities and businesses of the Development Agency of the Industrial District of Mechanical Components, aka. CO.MEC with those of the thermo-electromechanical sector of Medio Friuli. At the time, we already had 25 municipalities under our jurisdiction and 1,400 companies.
However, it was in 2015 that the true transformation took place. We became the Mechanical Engineering Cluster of Friuli Venezia Giulia; we therefore acquired regional competence and started a privatisation process that ended in September the same year with the total liquidation of public shares at face value.
In 2017, we continued growing and opened a new operational office in Udine, hosted by the Friuli Innovazione business accelerator. And for us, this is just the beginning. The future is yet to be written and we hope to write it together with you.
Today, we represent more than 5,000 companies that, together, account for over €5.9 billion in annual exports, and our numbers continue to grow.

Is your company already part of the COMET Cluster?
To join, your company simply needs to be based in FVG and fall under specific ATECO codes:
C22 – C25 – C27 – C28 – C33 – C24.4: C24.41 , C24.42, C24.43, C24.44, C24.45, C24.46, C24.5: C24.51, C24.52, C24.53, C24.54
Is it necessary to pay a membership fee?
No, the company only pays for the individual activities/projects it participates in.
Is Cluster COMET a public entity?
No, it is private and coordinates initiatives aimed at the development of the sector on behalf of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
What are the main services of the Cluster?
The Cluster can address all the needs of companies, from everyday issues to the implementation of projects and initiatives at the national and European levels. These include funding opportunities, training, the creation of business networks and clusters, trade fairs and internationalization activities, European projects, as well as customized activities tailored to individual companies.
